PASS’s mandate
is to address the root causes of violence and systemic inequities through holistic, community-driven strategies. As a Black-led organization, PASS is committed to uplifting underserved and marginalized communities by reducing risk factors, strengthening protective supports, and fostering pathways to healing, reconciliation, and prosperity. PASS collaborates with schools, community organizations, faith institutions, and neighborhood networks to deliver education, mentorship, and peace-building initiatives rooted in cultural relevance and evidence-based practices.

Core Values
We are committed to inclusivity, empowerment, and resilience, valuing diversity and fostering community-driven approaches that prioritize the well-being and voices of marginalized populations.

Our Vision
A safe, equitable, and inclusive Edmonton where every individual regardless of background—can thrive, contribute, and live free from violence and discrimination. PASS envisions a community where healing, reconciliation, and opportunity are accessible to all.
Core Programs:
1. Community Development
PASS promotes neighborhood engagement through grassroots initiatives that foster trust, collaboration, and shared ownership of solutions. Through partnerships with local institutions, PASS strengthens the social fabric of communities by addressing poverty, racism, and inequality with sustainable, people-centered approaches.
2. Capacity Building
This program equips individuals, families, and community groups with the tools and knowledge needed to lead and advocate for change. Through workshops, leadership training, and mentorship, PASS empowers residents to become agents of transformation in their own communities.
3. Settlement and Integration
PASS supports newcomers with settlement services that ease their transition into Canadian society. These services include orientation, system navigation, referrals, and culturally informed support that help individuals and families feel welcomed, safe, and integrated into their new communities.
4. English for Newcomers
This program provides accessible, community-based English language instruction focused on everyday communication, employment readiness, and cultural adaptation. Tailored for newcomers, classes are designed to build confidence, reduce isolation, and support long-term integration.
5. Employment Program
PASS helps marginalized and newcomer individuals overcome employment barriers through job readiness training, career counseling, resume support, and employer connections. The program aims to foster economic empowerment and workplace inclusion.
6. Arts and Recreation
PASS uses creative expression and recreational activities as tools for healing, identity building, and community connection. From youth art workshops to community sports leagues, this program provides safe, inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and foster social bonds.
7. Nonviolence and Peace Building
At the heart of PASS’s work, this program promotes alternatives to violence through education, mediation, and restorative practices. PASS trains youth and community members in conflict resolution, emotional literacy, and trauma-informed care to build a culture of peace and resilience.
