Free English for Life Classes Support Newcomers in Edmonton

PASS’s English for Life program officially began on December 8, 2025, welcoming a new group of newcomers eager to strengthen their English skills and confidence in everyday situations.

Designed as a free, three-month program, English for Life supports newcomers in developing practical language skills they can immediately apply in their daily lives — at work, in the community, and in social settings.

English for Everyday Life

Each session focuses on conversational English, essential vocabulary, and real-life scenarios that participants commonly encounter. Rather than academic instruction, the program emphasizes communication skills that help learners navigate daily interactions with greater ease and confidence.

Classes run Monday to Friday in Edmonton and are delivered in a welcoming, supportive environment that encourages participation, practice, and mutual learning.

A Supportive Learning Environment

The English for Life classroom is designed to be inclusive and practical. Participants learn together, practice speaking regularly, and build confidence through guided activities that reflect real-world situations. From the first sessions, the classroom has been filled with energy, engagement, and a strong sense of community.

Recognizing Effort and Progress

At the end of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Completion as recognition of their commitment and progress. While the certificate is non-academic, it represents an important milestone in each learner’s settlement journey and personal development.

Part of PASS’s Commitment to Newcomers

English for Life is one of PASS’s core initiatives aimed at supporting newcomers as they settle into life in Edmonton. By strengthening language skills, the program helps individuals feel more confident, connected, and empowered within the community.
